Summer School in Through-life Engineering Services
5th - 9th June 2017 Cranfield University
The Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Through-life Engineering Services is offering this summer school to train PhD students, researchers and early career practitioners in the key challenges and technologies for Through-life Engineering Services (TES). This annual summer school will also help to develop an international research community in the TES area.
The summer school will cover the following major themes:
1. Maintenance challenges for availability contracts
2. Component and System Degradation analysis
3. Fundamentals of Damage Assessments
4. Diagnostics and Prognostics
5. Repair and Self-healing Technologies
6. Obsolescence Management
7. Design and Manufacturing for TES
Who should attend?
PhD students (preferably in their 1st or 2nd years), researchers in universities and early career practitioners in companies in the UK and outside with an interest in the TES areas mentioned above can apply. Note that the course is limited to a maximum of 20 students.
Key features of the course:
This cross-disciplinary course will provide access to the leading research academics in the TES Centre and involves significant hands on exposure to the technologies in the TES Studio and the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Laboratory. The course will also include extensive group work and workshop style learning and will enable the creation of an international network of the attendees.
The course will start at 09.00 AM on Monday 5 June and finish by 14.00 PM on Friday 9 June. A social event and the Summer School dinner will be held on the Wednesday or Thursday evening.
£500 includes course registration, course material and gala dinner only. All costs to be paid before the course against an invoice.

How to apply?
Candidates may be nominated by their host Institution or apply themselves by email with a CV (maximum four pages) and a statement outlining the usefulness of the training to the candidate in their career development (max 500 words) by the 14th of May 2017. Selection will be performed by a TES Centre Committee and successful candidates will be notified by the 19th of May 2017.
